Travelling in Myanmar

Last November my friend and I travelled to Burma and stayed at
different places ( a few times we did a stopover in Yangon on our way
to other places) . Here our personal feedback about accommodations:

Yangon Savoy Hotel-: Very nice, right in the centre, colonial flair,
professional and friendly staff. If you contact them directly a great
discount is possible. Only (minor) minus regards breakfast: we went
twice to the dining room at around 9 am and almost everything was
gone& Still overall impression very positive.

While search figures to Thailand are still up 39 percent on last year, it falls behind the rising popularity of other East Asian nations with similar offerings, according to the company.

MYANMAR NEW YEAR ( THIN GYAN ) FESTIVAL

MYANMAR NEW YEAR ( THIN GYAN ) FESTIVAL ( APRIL 13 to 17 )

Myanmar celebrates New Year or Thingyan according to the lunar calendar and this normally falls around the middle of April.

This is the traditions handed down from generations to generations. The earliest instances of Thingyan during the Bagan Dynasty are seen on the numerous mural paintings in Bagan's pagodas. There was even a story of a jilted queen who tried to poison her King because she felt she was shamed during the royal Thingyan Festival. But that is another story.
